Love in the Interlude

Love is as love was- Brief
Time is as time was- Brief
Memories are as memories were- Perpetual.
Drag the reference of my previous lovers,
A blank sheet.
Life adorned with you.
All the machine guns and the jhumkas
has uttered your fair face.
As scared as the dawn of my love
the interlude is vast.
I stay non chalent
between grabbing me tight one night
and then-
No phone calls for weeks.
Come compare me to the ruins of 500 B.C
A promise as promise should be- Regretful.
To hold you when you are drunk, broke
and do not love me anymore.
Many decades.
Many stories.
Thanks for the tortured hearts healed
and empty souls refilled.
In tea leaves and in clouds
In kaddish and in howl.
Ink stains fading out and alcohol dropping off.
But, years will calm me down.
I assure you, the Tagore songs, the tears and
those passionate kisses
wont fall sick.
I assure you the permanence of my love.
